EVOKE is a student led exhibition held at the Anteros Arts Foundation. We chose the name EVOKE as we felt that each piece was trying to evoke a reaction from the audience. Each piece communicates to the audience in a different way. The pieces that I put into the show are the textile pieces (aprons and towel) and photographs documenting them in a domestic setting. I chose these works based on the fact that I felt they were communicating a message through the use of derogatory language, and highlighting how most words of this language are derivative of women. I chose the photographs for context, and to show how art and the domestic space can be combined.
